Atrium: The New Kid On The Block
by: Sophia

Atrium is the latest addition to the Gastrodome family (the people who brought us La Bodega and Telawi Street Bistro). It is a bistro that caters to both diners as well as those looking for a night out in town. It’s hip, trendy and has all the ingredients to make your night an entertaining and delightful one.

   o          The Vibe

Atrium screams class and comfort. Its simple and clean interior is all part of the master plan to make you feel at ease. The warm earthy tones and cool dim lighting adds on to the calm atmosphere. The interior furniture is provided by Budji so comfort is what you’ll get. There are many different sections to Atrium. Whether it’s a nice cosy sofa you’re looking for, a chic dining area, a hip and trendy bar or a touch of fire and ice, Atrium has it all.

   o          The Food

The Tapas menu is perfect for those who are searching for munchies rather than a full blown meal. You have the option of ordering single tapas portions (RM12 each) or the platter which is a choice of any four tapas (RM28). Amongst some of the notable items on the tapas menu is the Lebanese style lamb, the Vietnamese style duck spring roll, the crispy baby crab and the spicy seafood mousse.

The Lebanese lamb has a hint of Moroccan taste to it and it is soft and tender. The Vietnamese style duck spring roll is a unique dish. Initially, there’s a mint taste to it but it has a slightly spicy after taste from the chilli dip. The spring roll is packed with lots of healthy vegetables too. The baby crab is absolutely delicious. The bite size crustaceans is crispy and one bite is enough to make you call for the waiter to order more.

The spicy seafood mousse is somewhat of an acquired taste though. If you’re up for something unique, this would be the answer. The seafood mousse is skewered with a sugar cane and the end result looks somewhat like a Popsicle. It is ever so slightly spicy and it melts in your mouth. You have to bite on the sugar cane stick to get the added sweetness.

There is also a regular menu for those looking for a full blown meal. It is a very diverse menu that has soups, starters, pasta, main courses and steaks. Everything on the menu looks and sounds absolutely divine so go wild and make your choice(s).

   o          The Service

Smiles can be seen all around at Atrium. The staff is friendly and gracious. You can easily strike up a conversation with them or if you prefer privacy, they will go into stealth mode but all the while attending to your needs.

SD Food Advisor’s take on Atrium

Atrium provides a hip and trendy place for you to dine. It is also comfortable and possesses a warmth that makes you feel at ease. The food is delicious and prices are reasonable as well. The menu is diverse so there’s something for everyone. The Atrium really knows how to pamper its diners with its comfortable interior and its excellent service. If you don’t fall in love with the food, you’ll fall in love with the atmosphere.
